Story

Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.

Sue Ryder nurses and the hospice in Nettlebed provided my mum and our family amazing support during her final weeks, days and hours. The work they do is invaluable, and needs to continue to support others during their greatest time of need.

In memory of mum, and to raise money for Sue Ryder,  a group of family and friends will ride from mum’s birth town  Blackburn, Lancashire to Nettlebed, Berkshire, where she passed. A distance of over 300km, in 3 days. I will ride the final leg of 124km / 80 miles on September 8th 2019, a few days before the anniversary of mum’s birthday. In April next year, I will also run the London Marathon.

Please sponsor me if you wish, and thank you for your support.

Congratulations to my brother and Robin for completing the second ‘Tou de Lou’. 350KM in 3 days. Unfortunately due to a rugby injury to my son William, I had to miss the ride on day 3, but will complete the same route this coming Sunday or next Sunday 22nd September - planning is underway. Thanks again for everyone’s support. Stay tuned for ‘Tou de Lou take 2’

Perfect timing and a huge thank you to Benson Parish Council who have installed a memorial bench against the clock for mum by the river Thames in Benson. We will pass by the bench en route to Sue Ryder on Sunday.
